Granite State Goodies – Wolfeboro’s Newest Shop
There are over 200 Specialty Food producers and countless crafts people here in New Hampshire. Imagine being able to source many of these delicious foods and unique crafts in one single shop right on Main Street in Wolfeboro. Talk about shopping local! Beginning May 1, that concept is now a reality with the opening of Granite State Goodies at 25 North Main Street (next door to the Folk Cellar). Not only can you purchase individual food and gift items but you can order a one of a kind gift basket filled with Granite State Goodies for any and all occasions. Shipping is available to anywhere in the world where it is legal to send food. Among the many different kinds of gift baskets available will be the signature Wolfeboro basket filled with locally made items, a real estate agents Welcome basket for the new homeowner, a fancy tea basket complete with porcelain cup and saucer, jams, teas and sweets. An away from home “Camp Survival Box” loaded with shareable sweets and munchies plus 3 self addressed stamped postcards for a reassuring note from the camper to back home. For the New Hampshire student leaving home for college, sign up for the monthly “Package From Home” filled with delicious foods and a copy of the local hometown weekly newspaper for the student to catch up on local sports etc. Among the NH Specialty food folks featured will be Sunnyfield and Dream Works Bakeries of Tamworth bringing their delicious fresh baked breads, brownies, cookies, scones and pies. The shop will offer a growing number of producers featuring gourmet popcorn, fudge, chocolates, chutneys, maple syrup, honey, granola, cotton candy, whoopee pies, soup mixes, dried beans, coffees and teas, herbs, spices, sauces, mustards, oils and vinegars. If it is made in New Hampshire, the shop will try to stock it. One of the hardest parts of being a small Specialty Food or crafts person is getting the product to the final consumer. The large volume chains and even the smallest shop can choose from hundreds of thousands of different items from all around the world. The big stores charge shelf rent, demand co-op advertising fees and set quotas. Granite State Goodies through local retail shops and the website www.granitestategoodies.com charges vendors NO fees, nor has any quotas. It is their mission to create a win-win-win business model where New Hampshire specialty food and crafts people reach the consume, where the consumer can find a large selection of locally sourced items in a fun setting and where Granite State Goodies turns a profit. Shop hours are 364 days a year - May & June Sunday – Wednesday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Thursday – Saturday 10:00 am – 9:00 pm for your after dinner browsing and buying enjoyment. |
