Default Mount Washington

When is the Mount Washington scheduled to take its "shakedown" cruise? Isn't Mother's Day the official opening day of the season for the Mount?

Default Yyeess!!

I just noticed the Mount is back in her summer quarters!
This always gives me goose bumps and makes me jump up and down like a little kid!! From what I can determine she arrived around 3 PM this afternoon.
Now, could this be another CONTEST for the Winny Forum?

Cool

Channel 9 did a nice segment on the shakedown cruise this morning.
Looking forward to her 65th season on the lake!
Thank you Leander Lavallee.
The first public cruise is on Mother's Day, May 8th.

Default MV Mt Washington "bombed by terrorists

I got up at 5:00AM and left the house at 5:30. Got a coffee and bagel to go and got to the Weirs half an hour early at 6:30AM. I got burn makeup on my face, neck and chest. I was triaged as red, which is the worst. There were a bunch of kids there. Some were from drama class and they were givin instructions. I was supposed to stay unconsious so I didn't have to do anything. I was laying partially under a table on the second deck when the "Bomb" went off. It was really a device on the dock. The people with "rolls" started to scream and moan. The boat filled up with harmless smoke and visibility as about five feet. After a while the first responders came and got rid of some of the smoke and everyone who could walk left and went somewhere. There was a girl with her mother across the cabin from me and the girl kept screaming, "My baby's coming, My baby's coming. Pepole were screaming about various pains. After what seemed like a long time more responders came and I could hear police radios and people talking. The checked me, but I didn't respond. I was one of the last ones out. First two people dragged me outside to the outer deck. Later six firemen carried me on a board off the ship to what they called the transportation area at the parking lot. They checked me again and I think I "died" then. They changed my tag from red to yellow and then black. It took about two hours. About an hour later they fed us. Only four people died.

I got a call from Laconia Hospital. I have to go in tomorrow for an autopsy.

WMUR (Ch. 9) did a news piece about the Mount's disaster drill on the 6 o'clock news this evening. You can watch the news video at http://www.thewmurchannel.com/index.html

Thumbs up Mass Casualty Drill aboard the MS Mount Washington

Check out some of the pictures I took - it was a great way to help our Lakes Region Emergency Personnel with their training exercise. Thank you everyone for your participation and a big thanks to ALL the emergency personnel. Fantastic job !

Go to my gallery (Outlaw) of pictures to see some of the 'victims'. I hope others who took pictures will post them as well. We had some really terrific actors and actress' there today. I hope the girl who was 32 weeks along that she and baby made it through ok - for those who weren't able to be there, that was her assigned casualty acting instructions and she did one hell of a job.

The best part about the drill was the opportunity to speak with some of the emergency personnel and to get an understanding of what it is they really have to deal with in their daily jobs and how they are forced to make some very difficult decisions. My hats off to these folks - I think we too often take what they do for granted.

Talking Another NH insult

So I notice that all the casualties were "Mass" were they ? Just when will you guys stop with the endless bashing, and apparently now slashing, of your neighbors to the south.

You’re really dedicated to the cause!

The WMUR video is great, very realistic.
Thanks to everyone for an excellent learning experience.
The Mount was a good location choice, I hope it never turns into reality.
