Default Online deeds

Almost every county/town in NH has online accessible deeds, with the noteable exception of Carroll county (wolfeboro, Tuftonborough, Moultonborough, Ossipee, etc)

Their website cites "privacy issues".

Does anyone know the real story here. Seems to be the only county in the US that has "privacy issues" in this internet age.

This has been an ongoing issue with the former Registrar of Deeds. The newly elected Registrar ran on a PROMISE to provide on-line access like what goes on in every other county in NH. So far......it appears she has fallen flat on her promise. Actions speak more than words. Now I hear they hired some temporary person to redact personal info....that may take years. I don't understand all this secrecy....all you have to do is go to the Registry and you can see EVERYTHING....noting redacted. I think these people look under their beds every night !!! It is time for the Registrar to live up to HER PROMISE...not mine... on the campaign trail and make the records available on-line NOW. Or could it be that maybe we elected the WRONG person ??????

A few years ago, I remortgaged at MVSB, they commended Carroll County because they experienced less fraud from people copying signatures. They said they prefer this.

I like it too, less nosey busy bodies in the middle of other peoples hardships, or trying to spread problems at their work. I've seen all of this. One of the reasons I only look at property for sale in Carroll, having been one the subject of identy theft.

If you really want to barge into someone elses business, maybe you can drive there and do it in person.

Making it easy for folks with honorable intentions makes it easier for the less honorable too.
