Smile Meredith Bay Rope Swing

I've been a Bear Island boy for 32 years and used to love the rope swing that was in Meredith Bay. But its gone now. And I remember a bunch of out-of-the-way hidden streams where you could swim and jump from bridges into the water somewhere in the Centre Harbor area (I think). Does anyone know of a rope swing that is "open to the public" (for lack of a better expression)? Or does anyone know of these streams I'm talking about? Sorry I couldn't be more specific on that one. We're taking my girlfriends kids up to the lake for a week in July and would love to find these hidden treasures. Thanks for any suggestions.

I used to go to that rope swing too! It was dangerous but as long as you used a little common sense you would be ok!

Years ago the Marine Patrol cut the rope down after somone died from jumping off the 4th platform. There was too much slack in the rope and they hit the ground below and broke their neck. The swing was put back up several times but then I think they cut the branch and no one was ever able to get the swing to work quite right again.

This is all second hand so I may be wrong...

Default God, I remember that swing.....

It was something I totally forgot about, I used to run my little boat over there and anchor. Boy, sitting at work on a beautiful Saturday morning in the garden state....I sure do miss the lake and all those great times.....the good news is I will be up in the end of June for the first of 4 weeks at the lake this summer, counting down the time is absolutely killing me.
