Hi
Does anyone know any shop in the area that will replace an ABS Control module for me. I can get the correct replacement refurbished online but I need an installer more importantly someone that can reprogram it to the vehicle - its an older 2011 Jeep Grand cherokee with 240k on it, not something I want to do with the dealer. I have the knowledge to do the repair and know they are vehicle specific to the part/vehicle and has to be replaced with the exact one, but I do not have the computer to make it my vehicle specific. Do we have anyone in the area that does this??

Go to www.eBay.com and then key in the part number in the eBay search line and it will pop up if anyone has that specific part for sale. Hope this helps. Best of luck! |

I can get the part and know the specific part but even though it's the same part it needs to be reprogrammed to the specific vehicle it is going in. The dealer will not allow me to bring them the part, they want me to purchase from them to the tune of $600 plus just for it when I can get it for $250 myself.

ABS can be tough, a lot of problems aren't actually the controller, but a bad connection. Better to have it diagnosed, than buy a controller and find out it's not the issue.
I used 603 motorwerx in Tuftonboro for my car inspection, going to have them do my brakes, they seem like good guys over there but that's all I have until they do the work. |

While ABS is a wonderful device, we've driven for a century without it.
Has anyone suggested that you bypass it?

its leaking brake fluid where the electric component (motor and brains) meets the valve body of the unit. more than likely it is a O-ring that has failed, but it has to be taken apart to be rebuilt, but if it is anything more than that the unit is junk.

Hard to imagine a reputable shop that would take responsibility for a such sensitive component purchased from an online rando. 240K miles or 24K miles, you still need those brakes to work every time
