Here's a Vermont tv station, WCAX-Burlington, news report on the three ice fishing deaths and the closing of the Vermont-Lake Champlain ice fishing derby on Feb 11-12, 2023.
http://www.wcax.com/2023/02/13/vt-of...wing-3-deaths/ All three guys, ages 62, 71, and 88 were local Vermont guys. Autopsy reports say the 62-year old died of hypothermia and not drowning on Feb 9. His ice fishing clothing had flotation. Is no mention on whether he had any ice self-rescue picks? Falling through the ice can happen in a split second and you can get smacked upside your head so without an actual video on it, it's unknown how it went down, exactly. Wayne Alexander, 62, http://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/...ry?id=43531591 ..... 1960-2023 The 71 yr old and 88 yr old, two brothers, went thru the ice in a wheeled utility vehicle, a utv. The 88 yr old drowned. The 71 yr old died in a Burlington hospital and it has not been determined if it was from drowning or hypothermia? John Fleury, 71, Williamstown Vt ...... 1951-2023 Wayne Fleury, 88, East Montpelier Vt ..... 1934-2023 |
