Hello Fellow Boaters,
My boat insurance is coming up for renewal. I've been with State Farm for quite a few years. I want to be sure that their rates are competitive with other reputable companies. Are there any suggestions for reputable companies that I can contact for competitive quotes? Thanks.......

I've used to have travelers insurance on my 30' boat. I was happy with them but had a good sized claim a bunch of years back(ocean). Then I had a very small claim not too long after that, and they cancelled me. I still think they are a good company, but I should not have submitted a claim for the small tow I had and I'd probably still have them.
That said, I now have Boat US and they gave me a 20% discount for no claims with them. I shopped the coverage and nobody could touch it. I'd say give them a try. The only thing is, I don't have any claims experience with them so that part I can't speak for. I have this little idea about things I always try to apply. That is you never know about a company or person while things are going good, it's when things go bad that you find out what companies and people are really made of in the way they deal with it. ![]() |

I had a claim several years ago. They were excellent. It was about $1,500.
Got my boat fixed and the claim paid promptly. |

Agreed on BoatUS, We have used them for about 8 years now. No problems, very reasonable.

Mobile Marine pulled my boat out of Winnisquam to be repaired at Riveredge Marina and they charged BoatUS $500 .................I personally think that is outrageous. It should have been $200 ,max. But BoatUS paid it immediately and wrote me to make sure I was happy. They have my vote for the best marine insurance by far.
