Default Wolfeboro putting the screws to us....

Geesh, what is up with the town of Wolfeboro. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but us working folk are having a hard enough time dealing with the gas prices, and now Wolfeboro sees fit to increase its utility rates at the height of the hardest time of year. Good God! I'm wondering how most people will heat thier homes, that is if they don't get forclosed on, let alone pay a 60% increas in electricity. And to top that off now a 6% increase in sewer?
Anyone want to bid on a leg, arm, kidney? No wonder there are so many for sale signs up around here....

I simply can't believe that people here are not clamoring over this increase. Where is the state when you need them to block this

Along with gasoline, diesel & heating oil going up big time, there's increases in telephone, electricity, and fire wood by the cord. Even McDonald's is talking about raising the price of their dollar menu, double cheeseburger from !.00 to 1.19. Foster's newspaper just went from .50 to .75.

Is there an increase in the number of 'homes for sale' signs, here & about, or is that just my imagination?

Everything is going up except the selling price of homes. Will property taxes go down when home values go down? Probably not, the town will just raise the rate to pay for all their increased spending. The money has to come from somewhere?

Looks like my property taxes for a quarter acre waterfront are up about 400% in the last five years.

Hey Buddy, got any spare change?

Fatlazyless: Every time you make a reference to the cost of something and big mac's it puts a smile on my face. My taxes on my land are 1000 hambergers

The spend spend spend mentality of government these days and the thought that we have to help everyone is going to ruin this country. As sad as it is some people have to be poor. Russia tried communism and it did not work.

Lakes- Unfortunately, all utilities, including waste water treatment plants, require large amounts of power- power generated from some fossil fuel or another for the most part to operate. We all know what has happenned to the price of fuel.

We are all feeling the pain, but.................

And a lot of the reason why Wolfeboro is going up so much (is it 91%?) is because they had a long term contract in place and were cheaper than most other utilities for that time period. I think it was 5 years. Still, it is a blow to everyone, you are right!

Audio, you certainly said it well! The spend, spend, spend mentality and trying to help everyone is going to ruin this country. They need to stop listening to the special interests and take the hard road if the country is to survive.
