When Dan Littlefield was charged.......every official in Laconia was screaming about the perils of alcohol. Now that one of their own has "fallen",the Citizen could not get a single comment from the county attorney's office, police or any of the commisioners.

"flopping" your bike in a parking lot and having people summon over cops and getting arrested is a bit different than allegedly running over a 22' boat with your 36' boat, killing the passenger, leaving the scene and then saying you thought you ran over a piece of wood - the next morning.
i'd say one is certainly raises more concern and outrage than the other, although both are certainly in the wrong.

One of the things not mentioned in the Citizen article (but in the Union Leader) was that one of his primary focuses was in prosecuting DWI cases. In fact he was called in to prosecute the DWI case by Fun Spot during bike week.
Fortunatelty in his case was he was stopped before he could do any harm. |

The State Police couldn't drive away -- they had to show no favoritism. 2) Citizens expect prosecutors to be zealous in criminal cases; however, one of Littlefield's two criminal charges was alcohol-related. The article states Coull was the prosecutor in Littlefield's case. How zealous would a closet prosecutor/DWI be towards other DWIs? (Alleged DWI, I mean). This is a criminal defense attorney in the making -- even if he beats this one. |

I'm sure they could have taken him into custody and released him later. I'd be surprised if any of the witnesses knew he was a DA. With all the activity going on, it would probably be pretty easy to loose this one in the shuffle. |

Be interesting to see how this one plays out.
"The good old boy network"...if it still exists...usually will work to protect one of its own. Keep an eye out for preferential treatment, and if you see it, shout it from the rooftops. It will be telling to see who he hires to represent him. Equality under the Law, yadayadayada. |

He pled guilty to the DUI charge. I guess the Laconia District Court doesn't show any favoritism either. The issue now is his future as a prosecutor. Rob |
