Long Island Beach boat ramp status

After I saw last week's article on the damaged ramp at the Long Island Beach, I stopped to look. Sure enough, at a point where the bottom starts to really drop off deeper, two of the concrete bars connected by metal links had been lifted into an inverted "V" shape, sticking up considerably. I could see where something had scraped over the surface of the concrete edges sticking up. I also could see that I would not be able to use the ramp in that condition to pull my boat. My best guess on how it happened is that someone forgot to raise his outdrive, it caught on the concrete bar, and the towing vehicle powered its way uphill, pulling the bar out of the muck and stone surrounding the bars until either the driver realized his truck was working harder than normal at this and stopped or the boat and trailer suddenly broke free and he shot forward.

The article spoke of how the town was pondering cost and permitting issues on the ramp repair. Does anyone know the present status of the ramp and any plans to repair it?

Curiosity has overcome patience. I called the town, was told that they are still trying to find out if insurance will cover the repair cost and if the state requires any further permitting process. No timeline on repair is available at this point.
