Anyone know what this image is of and why?

right click on the picture, go to properties, copy the link HTTP etc, and then in your post, click on the picture icon, which is two to the right of the link with a red "x" or two from the left of the # and paste the link where it asks for the link.

I dunno...the picture was there one day and disappeared...Twilight zone music please: do do do do do do do do !

... but I think that might be a name used in another part of the country for a very similar fish. I think a "white bass" is a very close relative but not our New Hampshire resident.

Give the man a "Fin". You have to catch it yourself though.
With a nick name like Toad I'm guessing your a guy.

What helped you determine the species?

If you catch one, does us all a favor and keep it! They were illegally introduced into Lake Waukewan a few years ago and have since decimated the native sunfish and rainbow smelt populations.

It's green/yellow coloration and large scales tipped me off. This is my favorite species to catch and eat. I've caught sixteen or so over the past week. They are hanging out in an area not too far from my house.

... they are my favorite fish to catch and eat. They account well for themselves during the fight and even more so on the plate. My favorite recipe is to fry them. I like to use Egg Beaters, flavored bread crumbs or Panko, and safflower oil. I don't think they need salt and pepper unless you use Panko. I heat the oil 'til a drop of water dances across the surface. Fry for 90 seconds or so per side and "pisces heaven"!
Sauteed, without batter, in EVOO and butter, salt,pepper and fresh minced garlic is a close second. It's got my stomach growling just thinking about it!

Jonas this is not the food forum. You need to say at least once, Extra Virgin Olive Oil for EVOO.
