Every summer I throw a party for my employees at the island, usually 40-50 people. In the past we assemble at Glendale after shuffling cars back to the Gilford Yacht Club field. It usually takes 2 boats 2 runs each, plus sometimes a single run for clean up/stragglers that can't tell time.
I am looking to possibly streamline it this year by hiring a company to do it or someone in addition with an extra boat/s to take the strain off us. Is there any passenger boats or services on the lake that would be worth talking to? The loading zone at Glendale on a Friday is easy, on the island end we have 30' docks with plenty of depth or could park a boat across the ends of the 3 docks for unload purposes. Any thoughts? |

While Steve at ISS has mainly work boats, he probably could arrange what you want. He does list water taxi as a service.

It's too bad the old Winni Water Taxi (below) isn't still around. I can hardly believe that was over 10 years ago!
One thought is that boat rental companies have probably dealt with this kind of thing before. They may be able to provide a big deck boat and driver or have some other ideas. ![]() |

Sandy Island Camp has, in the past, hired out the Sandy II, for situations like this. I know we did transport for an island wedding at one point. The boat carries 50 passengers during our change-over days on Saturdays. Our pilots have their commercial licenses. Depending on the timing, it might be something to look into. If interested, PM and I will give you contact info for Tom Marden, our facilities director. I have no clout in that decision, but he does!

I saw that 51' Manitou in the water, in front of Fay's last weekend, maybe the owner can use some gas money?

As Sandy Island Fan said the Big Sandy 2 supplied transportation for a wedding here on Welch a couple years ago and another private party. Picked everyone up at the Glendale docks and took them over. I know it worked out extremely well for the renter.
