Headed up on Thursday for a weekend of fishing with my best friend. We usually fish for small mouth. Gieven the long winter, we're not sure what to expect. Are they biting?
Thanks ... Dave |

I was up this past weekend and found the bite challenging. We saw many smallmouth still on their beds, but they were unwilling to come off for anything.
Water temperature was in the 57 degree range and they seemed to be about a week to 10 days behind where they were this time last year. I'd bet by the time you get up there they will be moving off their beds and the bite will be much better. |

My son and I were fishing for rainbow trout for a while on Saturday and couldn't keep the small mouth off! We lost count....not kidding. They were killing a Winnipesaukee Smelt streamer and the orange with black dots DB Smelt. Again, we were looking for rainbows...

Now that's funny....
Let me change my story like a true fisherman would. My son and I were out TRYING to catch some small mouth bass and we killed them using an orange with black dots DB Smelt and the Winnipesaukee Smelt streamer. Unfortunately a few rainbow trout kept jumping on our lines too. |
