Default Insurance Rates and Speeding Tickets

So, if one's better half were to get a ticket adding 3 points to her already existing 3 points what would she be looking at for a rate increase? Also, I understand demerit points are on a three year stretch. Will the ticket reset the year timer? We haven't combined our insurance rates just yet since we're recently married. I'm sure that will take a hit on my truck (brandie new F250 with full coverage). She drives a '13 Focus with full coverage. Also, my house and my truck are tied together; not sure if her switching to me will affect the house now.

I'm almost thinking she stays with her company (Geico) until these demerit points are gone.

I've never gotten a ticket before (yet I get made fun of by everyone for driving 5mph under the speed limit) so I'm not familiar with any of the crap at all.

Not going to lie, but I'm pretty freakin' IRKED right now.

it all depends on the point/rate/tier structure of that particular company
but I can tell you if they decide to keep that significant driver as an insured it will be at least a couple hundred dollars extra a year for the next couple years.
NH does not have a point structure, but MA does

Gieco doesn't but most carriers require that in order for them to write the home they have to write the house, and vice versa

Spoke to my agent who is also a friend of mine.

House and truck will stay the same. Our rates were going to go down because of the multivehicle discount. Her car would also go down because of also having the house on there too. However, the increase will more than likely cancel out the few hundred in savings we were looking at.

If you combine the insurance your rate will go up... BUT!!!!!

- Look into this issue first you may find that combining the policies is not as bad as having to separate policies.

- Shop around, you may find better deals with other insurance companies

Now My wife and I maintain our own Auto insurance policies. We are both listed as drivers on both policies, but they are separate. Why because it was easier to keep the peace then force her to give up her insurance agency.... I would have switch but the cost of insuring with her company was more expensive, for the car, the boat, and home... Now why didn't she move to my ins. and its better prices... because at the end of the day, it only saved a few dollars... and she likes her ins. company and doesn't want to loose the ability to go back to them....

In the end Happy Wife Happy Life....
