Default Drone flying on the lake

Hey everyone - I wasn't sure where to post this, so I apologize if this has been addressed. I just purchased my first drone, that will carry my Go Pro 4 around to get hopefully some great footage. I realize a part of the lake near the airport, but what about other parts like Braun Bay for example or parts away from the airport. Has anyone read any rulings or regulations in regards specifically to the lakes region?

Thank you in advance.

Download the app B4UFLY. It works great to tell you if you are in the clear. However there are many registered heliports around the lake.

There is an interesting thread on this subject found here. It also has information about flying one around the airport.

I hope you can post some pictures once you get going.

Default Other FAA Landing Zones

There are other FAA sanctioned landing zones on the lake ..as in landing Sea Planes. They are delineated on the "New York" Sectional which is a Map/Chart that Private Pilots have on their lap while flying, but would be Totally Unknown to a Non Pilot. On the lake..Winter Harbor (Pvt), Loons Nest (Pvt), for starters. NB

Merrymeeting Lake is also a sea port. Given the 5 mile radius restriction, that pretty much precludes drones on any part of the lake without airport approval.

Default FCC Rules for Drones

A nice summary of the small unmanned aircraft (part 107) was published today (June 21) by the FAA. In typical FAA fashion, the rules are fair and worthy of respect.

If you're not in the clear, a Government solution may be at hand:
