Did anyone else feel the 2.9 earthquake 9:49. it was a big bang and then reverberated for about 10 seconds. Confirmed by USGS at https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthqua...1011,-41.57227

Yes sir, it sounded and felt like a huge explosion with the echos lasting about 10 seconds. I thought it was another house blowing up from a gas, but when that happened over on Salmon cove it was more like a chest banging thump. This was a single shake of the house with the very loud bang. It was pretty wild. I guess it was centered around Eagle cliff, in Sandwich about maybe five miles from here and 6 km deep.

Pretty cool. Looks like it was right on the eastern shore of Squam. Wonder if it caused in "ripples" in the lake.

A 2.9 wouldn't even be a subject of conversation here on the left coast.

And that, good sir, is one reason why we live on the east coast!

back in something like 1982-83 I was on a trip to California at the same time when there was a tiny earthquake in NH, which of course was newsworthy.
Talking to someone in CA "where are you from?" New Hampshire. "Oh, isn't that where they have all the earthquakes?" |

![]() My cocktails are shaken, not stirred. However, the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, would have spilled your drink.

I was actually there for that one. Happened during the World Series, and I was at my company's San Bruno office. It took about five seconds for me to realize exactly what was happening. That was an experience. Tremendous damage.

I was there for that one as well. Went back to the hotel, and there was 2-3 feet of water out of the pool.

63 people died in Loma Prieta.
Has there been any death(s) in New England associated with an earthquake?
