I've been about four or five times. The ribs are all sauce, so those are out for me. The steak tips are super good but also super expensive--something like mid-$20's for a non-doggie-bag size.

In short, not good enough for me to continue past Bob House or Canoe or Rubbin' Butts or Village Kitchen...

I love Bucky's.... I believe they serve good food at the right price....

A must have treat are their homemade potato chips....

If I had to label the establishment it is pub fare. It is not meant to be a Canoe, or Bob house... But is a step up from Village Kitchen in my estimation....

Village Kitchen for Breakfast and Bucky's for diner for me.... But then again like FLL, I am more of the Walmart side of life kind of guy..........

We're regulars. Steak Tips with peppers, onions and a sweet marinade are the best I've had (10 oz is plenty); Turkey Tips very good. Service is warm and friendly, popcorn is free. Headed there tomorrow for Taco Tuesday!

Default After golf at Ridgewood

After playing golf at Ridgewood, we often stop at Bucky's. Good pub food, good service, friendly atmosphere. We'd probably go more often if it wasn't on the other side of the lake from us.

I say "Go".

The tips are that expensive because they're that good. They're Dom's steak tips if folks are familiar which are shipped up from Malden and worth their weight in gold. With that said, I've ordered the same thing for the past 10+ years about 20-30 times a year and it's the steak tip sub on a hoagie. Do yourself a favor, you won't be disappointed. Generally in there Friday night after golf for the live music.

Thumbs up Consistantly the BEST!!!!

A Cup of Clam Chowder and the small portion of TIPs is more the enough. The Mashed Potatoes that come with the Tips are the best.

I've hit up Buckey's twice in the last couple weeks, and both times were great.

I don't know if their prices have remained consistent and now are a value or if I'm conditioned to higher costs, but I was critical of that in the past.

I've gotten the half-rack ribs both times, and they were much better than in the past—not overly saucy and perfectly cooked.

It's much closer to us than I remember, and I gotta think some former Pine Cone peeps will find their way there.

I agree. Buckey’s will benefit from the demise of the Pine Cone. The only downside is the distance. It’s quite a drive if you live more toward Wolfeboro.

Only been a few times and it's been ok. Last time was a few weeks ago when the power was out all thru meredith and center harbor and it was on there. Jam packed but no idea if that's the new normal or just everyone went there then because nothing else was open

Bucky's has always been consistent in my mind. Other then pairing down there menu, I believe they came through the pandemic just fine, and the food is always good. Our favorite is getting the homemade potato chips!!!!!

As far as cost, I believe their prices are in line with what you get....

Update: visited Buckey's tonight all jazzed about getting ribs, and the band was soooo loud we had to leave.

I'm a big fan of live music, but golly was it horrible.

If that's what they're doing on some nights, I don't see it being as much of a replacement for The Pine Cone as I thought—there was no way you could hear anyone or anything.

Update to the update: Buckey's has become our go-to now that The Bob House has become expensive and difficult to get into and the Pine Cone is no longer. We still like TBH periodically when we're planned ahead enough to make it work.

In terms of Buckey's, they're under new ownership (mentioned on their website) and, after two not-awesome experiences, I reached out to let them know...and heard back within an hour of emailing.

I love to know when restaurants—any company, really—are attentive and care enough to take issues head on, which is what Buckey's did.

Since then, we've visited twice and had awesome experiences both times—in fact, there's a new, older gentleman server right now who is fabulous.

The food continues to be great, the prices are very reasonable, and it's easy to get in (most times), making it a continued haunt for us.

PS We still go fairly early when we visit Fridays, before 6:30 mostly, to avoid the loud music. We prefer chill cribbage time.

Enjoy!

Ok, so we've not been to Buckey's in '25 yet because The Bob House has quieted down and stepped up their game (got 5:30 reservations at 4:30 last night, making it the third time in two months that we've been).

I just read, though, that Buckey's has been remodeled. Anyone been in recently?

Big remodel, and it's great! There is now a large rectangular bar in the back, bridging what had been the two dining rooms. The formica dining room has new furniture, the wood dining room is brighter, the old bar sits unused (waiting for more tables?).

Food and service the same as ever.

But one HUGE issue--the popcorn machine is not able to operate while the AC is running, so no popcorn this Summer

I don't know if you have been to Buckey's the last two weeks. They did have some wiring issues and breakers were blowing after the remodel. Too many things were left on too few circuits. About two weeks ago they had electricians come in and make some changes to eliminate the problems. It seems a lot better but I don't have specific information about the popcorn machine.

You have lost all credibility as a restaurant reviewer (how could you go to Buckey's and NOT look to the popcorn machine?). Nevertheless--THANKS!

I believe my last visit was 2-3 weeks ago, so maybe I just missed it. I will report back after my next visit. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to run out to Aubuchon Hot Buttered Hardware for some breakfast

I went to Bucky's for a business purpose but I can sympathize with your popcorn cravings. I get my restaurant popcorn fix at T Bones in Laconia.

Just what Buckeys needs is a bigger bar ! I'm right down the street, there's more than enough drinking that goes on there.

We returned to Buckey's tonight after the electrical improvements:

Turkey tips, beans, coleslaw, house salad: all excellent

Marker's mark: a HEAVY pour

Service: with a smile

Prices: quite reasonable

Popcorn Machine: still down

Weighing all of the above carefully, I give it 2 stars out of 4

Just kidding. It's great! But BYOPC

Popcorn machine is still down (on the same table right off the bar).

Friendly service, everyone still knows everyone but strangers are welcomed.

Foods a 7.5/10, but burgers are 50% off Tuesdays and everything we've had is solid. Exceptions are ribs are 8/10, and fries are 9/10 every time.

All ages are present, but they should just make the bar bigger and drop the tables, it's a bar-based eatery, as it should be becuase that works great.

And Keno is a must.

I'm guessing the Town of Moultonboro does not allow a big, exclusive bar and the only way they could get a pouring license is to also have food table service as well.

Maybe others may have some input.

Probably, but maybe find a way to condense the tables (there's a lot of open space) - as the last couple times we went 100% of ppl were at the bar and tables were 100% empty.

Or maybe just shuffle it around later in the day, the lunch crowd may be different. But the bar could use more space later in the day.

The new bar is huge! They did just add much needed sound deadening. If the day ends in Y I can usually be found at Bucks having my after work cocktail!

Much of my work nowadays is self-imposed! Three days of real work and 4 days of working on old motorcycles and tractors for fun. I have a friends 1960 panhead choppah on the lift now!

If you only go alone or with one friend, that's OK. But the tables are often filled with families and other larger groups
