Default The Moon and Mars - Christmas Eve

As your waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve... check out this rare event..

Hey, weather experts, will the skies be clear?

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...ristmaseve.htm

Hummmm... is maybe Mars the source of the "red" nosed reindeer story?

Too good to be true.. seems our Rudolph came from Monkey Wards.. (Those of us old enough know what Monkey Wards is.. was?)

Merry Christmas Everyone!

It looks to be clear weather from Monday through the day time hours of Wednesday. Viewing weather could not be better.

Default Merry Christmas Everyone

SteveA This time of year we think of family and with you talking about Monkey Wards it brought back memories of shopping in that store with my mother. Always looked forward to shopping with her as I was the last one of seven children as she spoiled me on shopping trips, always buying me something. How about shopping in the F W Woolworth Five & Dime Stores. Great memories from the early years. Moms been gone fifteen years this year but seem like it was just yesterday we were shopping together. Wish Everyone a Happy & Joy Filled Holidays.

Default FW Woolworths...

Wow,
Right back at you.... I remember working as a window washer at FW in Saugus when I was 15 in 1966.. hummmm.... the math tells me that was 41 years ago!

That can't be right...

(let's see.. 15 plus 41 would equal 56.... egads! I'm 56. I quess I should start acting my age..) NOT!

Default Sounds like one of those old songs

"When Jupiter aligns with Mars" anyway Monkey Wards and Woolworths. We had them along with Grants, 2 Guys, EJ Korvets... But how about the Old Mcraths in Alton Bay it had lots of stuff. Old? no just well aged like fine wine.

I'm not really a night-sky event-watcher, but "the Red Planet" will just about knock you over in the wee hours—provided you have minimal light pollution.

Where I am, it's nearly directly overhead at 4AM and has been getting even brighter morning by morning. After all, it's only 55 million miles away!
