Question Page Pond Acquisition

What ever happened to the proposal for the Town of Meredith to acquire the Page Pond land? I know the Town pledged a couple of hundred thousand dollars a few months ago with the rest to be raised through donations. I don't see any mention of the acquisition on the Town website. Can anyone give me an update on what's happening. Thank you.

Default

The voters of Meredith said yes on March election day. It was a warrant article, and it is being paid with a municipal bond loan.

The selectmen recommended voting in favor because it would stop the land from being developed into house lots which woud bring the New Hampshire version of 'The Plague', .....ie.....school age kiddies.

Default 35% still needed....

Being a Meredith Residient I received documentation on the town's campaign to save the Page Pond and Forest. After reading the town's perspective I'm in favor of helping the town purchase this acreage. Although I don't understand how the town says it will increase taxes to current residents (won't it introduce more taxpayers to the community?), I'm generally not the type to ever be receptive to "developments".

However, if there are any people out there that are in favor of seeing it developed, I'd be curious to hear their reasoning.

Anyone out there going to contribute some money to keep it in the town's hands? If it doesn't work out and it does get developed, what happens to all the money that was raised?

So many questions....
