seasonal rental swap

I haven't posted an ad yet nor would I know where to post it but here is our question...

Does anyone here have any experience with vacation swaps? What I mean is, we have a newer park model on the water in Moultonborough but its seasonal. We aren't big winter people but wouldn't mind one or two weekends skiing or just getting away in the winter. We do usually rent our place out a few weeks in the summer and fall just to offset the taxes etc. We were thinking of trying to find a swap- a full week in the summer from us for 2 weekends or some equivalent from someone else in the winter.

Would be interested in hearing any thoughts, ideas or experiences with this from the forum. Anything from, do it or dont do it to where to advertise and how to facilitate it, contracts etc..

I have considered that doing that myself, but never actually took the next step. I was hoping to go Tuscany, but I don't really think it matters. Anyway, a quick Google search on "vacation swap" brings up lots of sites that do just that. Once you find one you like just do another search on that site followed by "review" to see what experiences others have had. Good luck, and please let us know how you make out if you decide to follow through

What a FANTASTIC idea. We have a waterfront cottage on Cow Island that we rent in the summer. I'd love to swap a week or two for a month or two in someone's winter home. We are currently renting in Suissevale and we are paying around $1,100 per month. We rent our cottage for $1,400 per week in the summer. If there were people interested I'd do a vacation swap.

Perhaps Don could create a special section in the classifieds?

good old free craigslist.com they have a house swap section under real estate!!

I like the idea of a new section in this site. I have checked craigslist and it is all over the place. Nothing really on point and way too vague.

i would absolutely use a vaction swap section on this site if one were to appear in, oh say, the next week or so...

thats as subtle as I get for hints..

you could post it but I'd suggest private messages when securing the deal.
Simply for security and the tax ramifications.

I suggest you post under "Vacation Rentals" and "Housing Swap" both on the New Hampshire site and on a site in a geography you may want to swap into.
