Default Any famous residents lately??

Hi,
Just curious...are there any residents of the lake with any fame these days? Over the years, I remember some big names in local business, and some political folks, but haven't heard anything lately...

Oh, and was that roumor about Britney Spears ever confirmed or not???

Doesn't This Guy on the right have a place here. (Where the French President stayed)

Microsoft founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen were all smiles in 1983 just after delivering MS Dos for the Tandy laptop and signing a contract to write MS-DOS for IBM.

The house actually belongs to Michael Appe who was a Microsoft executive but not a founder

Is it "FFL" (as posted previously) or "FLL" as quoted above? And you use initials because...? If you tell us, you'll have to kill us? ; )

, I screwed up, it is FLL. My fingers were walking faster than the brain was working. I'm not really sure of this statement "If you tell us, you'll have to kill us?"

It's a joke...apologies...it's a cultural reference...

"Often heard in settings related to espionage and high security levels, the phrase "I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you" is itself probably a Dead Horse Trope by this point - whether for a serious straight use or not.

Nowadays used much more tongue in cheek to poke fun at stern security protocols and classification, it has started to show signs of decay since it's hard to pass off a Stock Phrase as an original joke. Instead it's more common to get it as one characters joke to another, perhaps to demonstrate that character's lack of regard to the rigmarole of secrecy or mockery of the other character's clearance/understanding."

It's just that I don't understand your use of initials as opposed to just posting the person's name.

No worries. And no reason to explain it - I'm sure most of here are old enough to have heard that saying more than once...

The initials "FLL" are in reference to our notorious Fatlazyless - a fellow poster here on winni dot com. It's an inside joke, I suppose, and seeing as you're fairly new here on the forum it's understandable you wouldn't get an inside joke like that... no worries.

And welcome aboard!

What you say has a ring of credibility…although a very low ring…however it does have a ring to it.

Would I love to parse and add some emoticons to WM’s post.

Thanks for the laugh!

It is a good question. I wondered about this quote after the shooting of Congresswomen Gifford.

"The women became close friends while they were all serving in the House. Their professional bond turned personal, with Giffords and her husband going on double-dates with Gillibrand and her husband at Matchbox, one of their favorite Washington restaurants, and taking summer vacations to New Hampshire with Wasserman Schultz's family. "

from this article..

http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbc...19890/-1/rss01

I wondered maybe if the Wasserman/Schultz family, like Romney had a place around the lake somewhere. Never did find out.

From today's GSN:

Quote:
WOLFEBORO — Brewster Academy graduated 117 students on May 28 at its 191st commencement. Head of School Dr. Michael E. Cooper presided. Actor Topher Grace, a 1997 Brewster graduate, was the commencement
speaker.

Eric Forman went to Brewster? I wonder if Red had to to stick his foot up his bu## to get him in there! A much better choice than Kelso!

Default Topher Grace . . .

. . . is a good actor. He was recently in "Too Big To Fail", an excellent cable movie about the 2008 economic collapse. I don't know about you guys, but I'm still mad about what these greedy fools did to the economy, and I'm still waiting for some people to be placed in handcuffs.

Oddly...he apparently had little acting experience. From IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0333410/bio

Quote:
Grace dropped out of USC to start his show business career in "That '70s Show" (1998) at age 20. He was cast in that show because the show's creators, Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, saw him act in a high-school play--their daughter attended same high school. Apart from school plays, Grace had absolutely no acting experience before landing the role of Eric Forman.
I'm assuming they mean Brewster when they refer to his high school, so...the Turner's are yet another local connection to fame.
