Unhappy State never told us -opened dam

What a surprise we encountered this morning on Sunset lake up on Alton Mountain. Our boats started to sit on the bottom. The state came in yesterday and opened the dam and the water was down 6" from high water and tonight it is 10" from high water mark. We called the state and asked if they planned to close it at a particular level and they said no that it was going to be left open until after the storm. We asked why they didn't at least put it on the NH TV station and they said that they were doing the interview at the time she was talking to us. Get help and we asked why they didn't do a reverse 911 phone call and she didn't have any idea. This guy feels so bad for those that are not here. My son went around the whole lake and told everyone what was happening and asked to try and notify anyone else that may not be aware of what is happening. You couldn't guess the crazy answerers and questions that he was getting.
Good luck to those with their water craft in the lake, but ours are up and safe from siitting on the bottom.

We found the same situation at my grandparent's camp on Mascoma Lake in Enfield. Their boat and many others were resting on the ground this morning. We were able to get ours pushed out and pulled, but a warning would have been nice!
