Default july 4th week

Hey all. we were up last year for the first time and stay at governors island with small boat. we are coming up again next yr same week. have the family, kids, etc. do tubing, skiing stuff. any suggestions on things to do around the lake and possibly the best area of the lake to stay? Alton, merideth, etc? very new to the area. did the Weirs beach stuff last year, and really thats only about 1 day. Thinking about other stuff to do with the kids on, and off, the lake. thanks for any advice. Also, we have a smaller boat, so any ideas on calmer parts of the lake for tubing, etc.

Default 4th

First let me say you decided to come during one of the busiest weeks of the season as far as boats on the lake. that being the week before or the week after the 4th and from our experiences it is hard to find many uncrowded places during that time.
Within a short drive you have Gunstock, Funspot, Mt Major and further north up 93 you have my favorite place the mountains with hiking and biking trails.
A lot depends on just what you are looking to do and how far you want to go.
There isn't much on the lake besides the Weirs to go to by boat other then eateries.
As for the less crowded places to stay, I'd say the Moultonborough and Wolfeboro side are definitely the less congested with traffic with the area from Gilford through Laconia and on over to Center Harbor being high traffic areas with Meredith being the absolute worst on any of the summer weekends.

jt3kids, I just noticed that you are fairly new to posting on the forum and glad you have joined us. Have fun and enjoy the Winni Forum while making many new friends.
I’m sorry that I missed you when you first joined, but it is kinda hard to keep up with all the new comers. I hope that you and the kids had a great time on our pristine Lake Winni this past summer and that you will continue to do so in many years to come.

We did the Gunstock airiel tree adventure and the zip line tour this year. What an awesome time we had! Both are reasonably priced and will take up most of a morning or afternoon. Tree adventure is pretty physically demanding but worth the visit. We haven't tried the segway tour yet, but friends who have, said that's a blast too! Enjoy and make reservations early.
