Space Station visible at 10:25 tonight (Monday 6/3)

The weather is clear. Check out the sky tonight for the space station fly-over. It should be very bright. It starts in the southwest around 10:24PM rises to the south-east (67 degrees high) by 10:27 and sets in the north-east around 10:30. It is unusual for it to be visible for so long. Sorry for the late posting - hope you get to see it.

Tonight at 9:35 for 6 minutes.....

June 6th at around 9:30 will be better if the skies are clear as it will be going over head at around 80 degrees which pretty much straight up.

Last nights 9:35 sighting was fantastic. The best one I've seen yet with an almost 6 minute viewing time. Looking as bright as the brightest star it was real easy to pick up on its arrival. Should be another good one tonite at 8:47.

There is also something kind of cool happening starting today. A new transport spacecraft that will supply the ISS is launching today. This will also be visible for the next 10 days until it docks with the ISS on June 15th. If we are lucky we should be able to see the craft(ATV-4) closing in on the ISS leading up to the docking. I'll be keeping eye on that. Here's the viewing schedule for both with the ATV-4 towards the bottom of the page.

I wonder if we will get to see them both close together or upon docking? That would be cool.

Tonight at 10:22 it will be visible for 6 minutes again.
Thursday is the best night but I think it is going to be cloudy by that time.

Thanks for that! I saw that it was launching but that we were not in the viewing area (to see it go up). I didn't realize we'd be able to see it in orbit!!

10 minutes from now at 10:15 to the far west north west horizon. Visible for 3 min.
Tomorrow night at 9:27 it will be almost directly overhead at 88 degrees for 4 minutes. Just an fyi.....
I'm going out to listen to the loons from my deck and watch the station go by. Ahhhh.....Summer in NH.

We watched it go by tonight. Amazing how it just fades into nothing at one point in the sky. I don't know if it's the angle of the 'wings' and how they reflect, or the arc of the orbit it's in? Still an awe-inspiring sight to me, and we've seen it quite a few times.

The light will change as the angle of the solar panels change. There's a whole bunch of stuff floating around up there. Check out "Iridium flares" sometime...those can be very impressive, almost like a slow-moving comet.

Yes it will fade as it goes into the dark side of the earth. The sun does not hit it anymore so the reflection goes away.

Stay away from the Dark Side....

The fading away has nothing to do with the angles of the solar panels.Lakesider is exactly right on this one.That is why it is only visible just after sunset and before sunrise.The longest viewing is generally the closest to either depending on the height in the sky.
