Went from Alton Bay to Wolfeboro this morning, took waves over the bow frequently and had my boat doing some James Bond action (completely out of the water) on more than one occasion!

Went out on the lake around 130 and it was choppy even in the bay by Sandy Point. Continued out and had 2 + ft chop around Little Mark.

Made it to West Alton, and smiled as we powered through the wind going in the channel...boats that were anchored were pitching some with the wind and waves. Had to keep the RPM's up by a couple of hundred to keep steerage and control, at least til we got past the points of land heading into WAM.

Ditto coming out, had to kick it up a notch to keep steerage as we came out of the channel to the sand bar area. Decided to just head in to the Sandy Point area, and drop anchor there. Not bad and hung out there for a couple of hours. Life is good.

I did almost the same track. A-Bay, to WAM, to Chestnut, back to A-Bay to get out of the wind/waves for some swim time. The chop outside the bay was solid two footers, making a distinct line off Rattlesnake. The chop in the bay was much flatter, although the wind was tenacious. After anchoring for a couple of hours, the anchor was really buried taking some work to pull. The wind was quite impressive, soaking us with the occasional ideal wave.

It was one of the times where most boats under 25' where chugging along at a calculated pace. Funny, there seemed to be a bunch of 16 to 20 footers out today. No thanks.

Heard on ch 9 of a boat with significant troubles in W-boro bay needing to be towed in. Lots of chatter on logistics of getting them in safe. Hope all were fine.

It sure was rough! Even in Winter Harbor, the white caps were awful!

A little chop but perfect for the boats that have gathered for the second annual classic ski boats show. There was even a demonstration of high speed water skiing!

Wasn't terrible out there today, nor was it particularly smooth--I think I may have left my kidneys somewhere in the middle of the broads, but I was in the front of a small bowrider for a good chunk of the day, too.

Even rougher today, by a large margin. A-bay was fine but crossing little mark: b-bam. Nice white caps, some breaking and some good spray. I had to time my turn-arounds between the wave cycles. Waves were moving at a good clip too.

On a side note, the day this thread is talking about (8/10) was the day we picked up our boat at PBM and drove it over to LSP. At least that isn't a horrible drive, but as this is our first boat and with very little hands-on boating experience it sure did make it a 'trial by fire'...or more like a 'trial by wind and waves'. But we made it without issue and it was a great way to learn how churned up it can get out there even with the sun shining and no storm or clouds around. We were laughing pretty hard as we came out of Paugus to make the turn East at how choppy it was...

Not many powerboats out Sunday! A few sailboats did brave the waves and rollers.

The catamaran in the first attachment (below) capsized in the relative calm of Tuftonboro Neck.

Reducing sail, he next headed for The Broads.

The same day, the second attachment shows a pair in a canoe paddling like crazy in our "protected" waters.

I don't exactly remember that day, but yesterday was the roughest I have been out in this summer. The waves were rollers. They reminded me of an offshore hurricane in the ocean. I was actually worried about our return trip going down to Wolfeboro. We had to go fast to ride over the rollers but we were fine. We did see maybe 3 smaller boats out there, I don't know how they did it!

I went out yesterday, it was a windy. Docking in Meredith took a couple tries but worth the effort.

I took my yakboard kayak out into the Broads to the east of Rattlesnake for a bit of fun surfing the waves yesterday. I could not see over many of the incoming waves as I sat on top of the kayak. I would estimate these as being at least 4 feet with a few rouges being even taller. My wife was watching from our dock and said she'd completely loose sight of me in the troughs (I'm 6'4" and sit pretty tall). Wow! Pretty rough, indeed.
