A couple questions; where is this 28-acre lot located in the Weirs, what is in it now, and is it currently designated 'in current use' for property taxes?

...ok...so it is up off White Oaks Rd ... up behind the extremely desolate, fenced-in, for sale, former water park that fronts on Route-11? Somewhere, I recall reading this 28-acre parcel has been in current use, and wonder if this proposed paint-ball business would be allowed by the Laconia assessor to keep this 28-acre parcel in current use as a paint-ball business? Is a paint-ball business viable if it means paying property taxes that were very minimal before, when it was in current use, unless it is to remain in current use........that is the question.......to be taxed......or not to be taxed.....will this new paint-ball biz be granted a "get-out-of-paying-Laconia-property-tax" card ..... or what?
www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Current_use ....ok....now I have something to do tomorrow! .... will go hang in the tv-waiting room at VIP-Laconia Auto Repairs and spend the rest of the week scanning www.lrpa.org on Metrocast cable...hoping to catch either the selectmen or the zoning board or whoever....to get an answer to this pressing question......oh nooooooo and oh yessss and oh nooooooo!

It's my understanding that the paintball property abuts the property owned by Michael Foote on Rollercoaster road....but would be entered via Endicott North St. which would put it somewhere around the property that is for sale being The Heat Restaurant Plaza....not sure though..in AZ haven't tried to pin it down...any corrections would be welcomed. If I do hear anything different I will repost correction. Hope that helps.

Having been in the paintball industry years ago with 7 figures in annual sales, I find this business idea a bit odd. I owned multiple retail stores in MA & NH, a warehouse, website, and supplied other fields/stores with paint. I saw other paintball businesses close as fast as they could open.
At a 45 min drive, there is a rather large field in operation just south of them, and has been for 15 years+. They do extremely well and draw in the crowd. Not sure I see the draw to the weirs during the cooler months when there is even less tourist population. I just find that a very seasonal business in a seasonal area, who's peak times are spring/fall, are going to draw in the crowd when there is far less people around. Not sure there is enough population up there to support it year round. Other strong fields in central NH rely on denser populations to take the trip for 1-2 hours +. Why would anyone go further north to Weirs Beach when the best is closer to MA.? It's like driving past Lake Winni because there is a nice 100 acre pond north of the White Mountains. I certainly wish them well and I hope my thought process is off. |

Yes, there are still somethings that we need to work on. Fact is; we are working on them. It's a shame the media favors the negative. As for the paint ball; jury is still out for me. I think with the many activities surrounding the proposed location, there is a good chance to succeed, I also think the hours of operation as currently defined could lead to failure. The good thing is, they can reconsider hours operation if i am correct. |
