East Coast Flightcraft is working on the pier and gave the city some of the ideas they have going forward.

Sounds like a nice combination of moving forward while maintaining tradition--that would be a win/win. I just hope they find a way to make the docks less turbulent--boats get banged around there on weekends.

Not interested in seeing a no-wake zone from Meredith down to Weirs Bay, BUT, hope we can still get Karmel Korn on the boardwalk!!

I did that a few years ago during a rowing regatta. It was no wake from Stonedam to the docks so as to not create waves for the rowers. I should have turned around and gone to Center Harbor for lunch as it took forever to get there. I would not go to Meredith by boat if it became no wake and I think most people would do the same.

Here's a photo. The mini-golf is now a parking lot.
In addition to pier renovations, Weirs is undergoing a revitalization project (coined the 2 million Weirs Beach face lift):

I'm not a fan of those new parking payment machines. Had one freeze up in Concord. No way to fix. Robin Hood can't come along and add a quarter. You never get free time from the guy before you. Nuisance in the rain. Have to buy too much time when you only need a few minutes. I'm sure they're good for the city in terms of profit and lots less cash to handle.
They should sync them to my EZ Pass transponder so I only pay for exact time used and I don't have to worry about all the above hassles. Or, maybe an app for my phone (ApplePay?) Regardless of these minor points, it's nice to see the city making an effort. Next, remove every other dock. |

I know that a phone app works to pay for parking in Ft. Lauderdale.

I would like to point out that in addition to what Bizer has mentioned; there will be two dining choice additions going into the Pier. Sal's Pizza is going in there as is The Traveling Texas Smoke BBQ. IMO both will be welcomed additions and a quantum leap above anything else currently available to boaters looking to dock and dine at The Weirs docks.

WMUR featured the renovations at the Weirs Pier on the 5:00 news today. Looks like good things are happening! A soft opening is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. 🎖 🌺

Bizer stopped by on Tuesday. Renovations are in full progress. Apparently, when the word got out that East Coast Flightcraft was running the pier, they sold/rented all their slips and now have a waiting list. They plan to open in early May with their official opening on Memorial weekend.
Meanwhile, Lakeside Avenue currently has no pavement. |

That system would work well in several locations around the lake. |

Took a spin down to the Weirs on Sunday. Roadway paved up to the Weathervane. New Fire Hydrants installed and it looks like they are preparing for sidewalk installation. The pier building is now white, a welcome change from the dated yellow it was. I cant wait to see the finished product!

Two weeks after my previous post. Weirs is starting to look good. The Mount returned to Weirs on Tuesday. They've changed the interior. A lot of the bench seating along the windows has been replaced with tables.
The road is paved. There are places where the "sidewalk" stick out several feet to shorten the walking distance across the street. This also removes a few parking spaces. |

I drove down Lake Street through the Weirs last night. I am surprised at the number of places where the curb and sidewalk protrude out into the street.
Although the area is now marked with orange barrels it will be interesting to see what the final product looks like. My concern is that without clear marking the new design may be hazardous to drive through and vehicles may strike the granite curbs. I hope that when it is complete plantings or other markings will make it more attractive and easier to navigate through the area. |
