Log Splitter Rental?

I will be needing to rent a log splitter, hopefully in or close to West Alton.
Recommendations?

I would think the rental place on Rte 3 in Belmont would have them for rent. I think it is call Taylor Rental but I'm not sure. It is on the right side of road about 1/4 mile past the Belmont Mall.

Not sure how much you need to split, but people often buy used splitters and sell them after.

Taylor Rental on Rt. 11 in Farmington, or Bradley's Hardware in Wolfeboro. They both rent splitters.

Actually I did consider buying one (one can't have enough toys), new at Home Depot was about 1200 but that was a bit much, would take a lot of years rentals to recoup that.... didn't see much in the way of on line deals for used ones.... realizing this isn't the right time of year for a deal.

Try Tractor Supply. I bought one from them about 6 years ago....fabulous machine. Was going to sell it after, but it has more than paid for itself. At $80-100/day for a rental, does not take many days to repay the up front cost.

Rand's Hardware & Rental, Main St, Plymouth, Route 93-Exit 25, has about four Barreto 25-ton log splitters that are designed to be towed with a 2" trailer ball hitch.

Wednesday is half price rental day so it costs $34/day on Wednesday/thin price as opposed to $68/fat price. Rand's opens at 7-am and closes at 6-pm.

Harbor Freight has one for about $250. I bought one years ago and it splits anything I put into it. 5 ton force, electric/hydraulic, easy to store, and pays for itself very quickly.

That's a good deal just keep in mind your travel times to and from the store as that will eat into your actual running time using the machine.

I purchased a 6 ton electric log splitter from DR Equipment for $829 back in 2007. It has paid for itself many times over.

With just one swing of the ax, I can split a big, fat log into four equally sized pieces of fire wood .....with just one swing .....like, no kidding here.....Capiche! ....... like, why bother with a gas powered, hydraulic wood splitter ........ when all you really need is a good, sharp ax......isn't an ax what was used to split wood for hundreds of years ...... or maybe a splitting wedge with a sledge hammer ...... but probably just a sharp ax?

Nice outfit FLL! If you really hustle and split a lot of wood, you may be able to sell a cord or two and buy a pair of shoes to wear while using the axe.
Can't wait til spring to see you model the latest inflatable paddleboards.

If your time is only worth minimum wage then that's the way to go. I'd rather do what I do best and pay some one to do the grunt work for a lot less.

I split all my firewood with a maul. The straight grained wood seen in the videos splits very easily. Anything cut on an angle or with branch bases in it was more difficult. Some of the pieces were wasted because it was too hard to split. I suspect a log splitter would take care of those.

That was then, this is now. I like my propane!

I saw this on line somewhere a few years ago and I thought it was very cool. It was a home made log splitter that used an old coil spring and a heavy wedge. It was really easy to operate and obviously used no fuel or made any screaming noise. It was balanced so as to use very little effort to split any size log.

It would be easy to make for a local welder and lots cheaper than a motorized one.
