Aquatherm not working

So I did a flyover with my drone of our island property today to check things out...ice has formed around the dock and it appears the circulator is not running...I suppose I would have to wait till spring and hope the dock will be there. I think walking over when we get solid ice may to late to run it and may make it worse. Probably a circuit breaker popped. Any thoughts on trying to reset it in January?

I bet Island Support Services is still working on the lake. Why not give them a call to see if they can check it out?
It would be a lot cheaper than repairing your dock.

Walking out in winter should work fine because the damage occurs during ice-out. It would take some time for the ice around the dock to melt.

Yes ISS still has boats in the water as does Dave Farley at Diversified. I believe that they both have air boats as well.

Curious if you checked other properties on the island that have bubblers? Perhaps the power is out on the island, just a thought. Good luck.

We had someone cut the power lines last year on several along our shore

Not much luck with barge companies getting back...island support serv. Does not go to that part of lake. Too far with ice forming. I will wait till beer fest and walk over if ice is solid. Only concern I have is turning the bubbler back on with ice already around dock. That could make it worse by pushing warm water up to refreeze around the dock....

I think as long as you get it back on before the ice starts to melt in the spring you should be fine. My experience is 95% of any damage I have had is when the ice starts to melt and move around. It only took one winter (and several thousand dollars) to gain a lot of respect for what the ice will do.

Also, if you don't get it running again in addition to any dock damage that occurs you may lose your circulator too since the cord and any support lines will be frozen into the ice. When the ice starts to travel in the wind the circulator might go with it.

I know we have had this discussion before, but Tilton is right. It is the movement of the ice in the spring that causes the real damage to docks.

If a circulator has been off, and then restarts, it pushes warmer water up from below to melt the ice around your dock posts. If the lake level drops while ice is frozen to the posts, damage may result.

Island Service Company in Meredith is on the lake all year round. 🐻

Same is true for lake level rise in late winter/early spring with ice frozen to the posts.

If they ice forms and then you turn on the bubblers it with just eat up the ice with no damage. If your not here all the time I’d consider hiring a service to monitor. We have Winnipeasukee Auquatherm. They set them up, set the timers and put them away in the spring. Install the signs. They come periodically to monitor and adjust them. It’s pretty short money.
