Soon, I will be starting Spring yard work and would like to hire a high-school student.
I know, that sounds like a oxy-moron.... Work and High-School student, seriously ? ![]() I started working about 15, doing all sorts of jobs for people, yard work, snow shoveling, grunt manual labor to make a few bucks to support my needs. I was raised by a single mother, who worked two jobs, so there wasn't a lot of money to go around. I don't regret working so young, because it established a good work ethic, that has carried me through life., and my profession. Most kids today, don't want to work, there I said it ! Parents today have made it too easy for them providing all their needs and money, so why work ? How many kids today, do you actually see out there working, very few. I digress.... If anyone knows of a young high-school age person who would like to make some quick cash for a few hours work, please let me know by PM. Thanks ! Last edited by bigdog; 03-21-2020 at 06:56 PM. A CV displaced worker may be a good fit.
There will be many. |

In my formative years, nobody gave liability much thought when hiring teens for odd jobs and yard work.
I wonder how if a homeowner's insurance policy addresses this. |

Years ago, I hired a 15 yo for yard work. He was a hard worker and a friend of the family. Every year until he was 18. NH Homeowners insurance has a worker's comp plan for domestic employees, and of course, liability and Med pay for issues caused by you. Check with your agent for full explanation.
Nowadays, If hiring a kid, I would only hire two and make it a point to never be alone with either one. No power tools for those under 18 anymore.,, at least drills and saws, or a mulcher. Maybe a leaf blower with ear and eye protection? |

“Most kids today, don't want to work, there I said it!”
With all due respect....if you think all kids these days don’t want to work as you say...why are you looking to hire them?? Honest question... Dan

Dan.... I never said 'all kids' don't want to work, I said 'most' kids. There are some kids out there who would work, I'm just trying to locate some. |
