I've been boating on the lake since I was a kid, but I've never really fished it until recently. Fishing trips were usually reserved for Squam, Pawtuckaway, etc..
Anyone local knows the smallie fishing on Squam can be great. Now that I've got a boat on the big lake, I get out and fish a bit. It seems like the whole lake is a hotspot to some degree. I haven't really sought out any lakers or salmon yet, but I've had good luck with smallies. This summer, I've been catching them on rubber worms (any popular rig) in 5-15 feet of water, anywhere with a rocky or mixed bottom. Caught this guy a stones throw from _________ ![]() Caught a few small ones near ship island, and a lot of very annoying Rock Bass by Littlemark Island in Alton Bay. The Rock Bass are an issue here, but there are still plenty of smallies to go around. An aggressive one was chasing me and nipping me last week at the West Alton sandbar ![]() They are out there! There's some good fish out there, for sure. At my son's fishing tourney this past weekend, the bigmouth lunker was just under eight pounds.
Glad you're having some good fishing! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
