Tower Hill Liquor License Suspended

Hearing Tower Hill Tavern had their liquor license suspended until after Labor Day. Not sure which establishments are open as he owns a half dozen in the area. Anyone know more and why?

It looks like they were facing two counts of serving a visibly intoxicated patron.

I heard it was all of his establishments at the Weirs. Way too much trouble coming out of there recently. Fights, discharging of a firearm, etc.

Not all of his bars are affected.... The Big House/Wreck Yard (Former Paradise) has a separate license and is open and serving alcohol. They had bands all weekend. The new "Fancy" is open serving BBQ. (No liquor) Tower Hill was also open (no liquor).

It can be extremely difficult to determine who has had too many, because people learn to tone it down so they can purchase another adult beverage without letting on they had too many. That's like the oldest drinking trick in the book so the Liquor Commision should go easy on Tower Hill Tavern and have some understanding of the difficulty involved there, plus let us not forget that Tower Hill buys all their adult beverage from the nearby state liquor store.

True about the Big House/Wreck Yard. But, he must now serve food at both locations to serve alcohol. State law.

My sister and brother-in-law went to the Big House last week. My bil said there was a delivery charge for food because it was brought down from Tower Hill.

The breathalyzer is becoming outdated technology.

Sobrsafe is a newer company (2022) that has two products to test the alcohol level in a subject. SOBRsafe’s advanced transdermal (touch-based) technology detects and reports in real-time the presence of alcohol emitted through a user’s skin - no breath, blood, or urine samples are required. They have a device that is larger but similar to a computer mouse that a subject sticks two fingers into to confirm identity and alcohol level.

They also have a wristband to detect alcohol that includes GPS. The company thinks a lot of parents would want this on their teenage kids.

It remains to be seen if this will replace a breathalyzer and be useful to law enforcement. It would seem that using the device for a quick check of a motorist would be way more efficient than the sidewalk olympics. It would also be handy for servers in restaurants and bars for an instant determination of whether they should serve a patron.

That's pretty crummy of them to do...

There are still a few cases pending against them, one of which is the firearm related one, so they are still in trouble.

I am not sure they "have" to serve food at the Big House. TBH, I don't know what kind of license they actually have for that property. However, the Big House has a large enough capacity to have a "ballroom" license that does not require food service.
