I could've sworn this was asked before, but I can't find it: what are people using for weather systems in their homes?
I had two sensors with five receivers around the house, so I know what the temps were outside and in the garage, but those have stopped working (not bad for 14 years). So, I would like at least three "heads" and one or two outdoor sensors. Doesn't need to be complex, temperature alone is ok, but humidity might be nice. Sent from my SM-S931U using Tapatalk |

I don't mean this to be sharp, but why do you care? Your phone will tell you the local temperature; does +/- a few degrees matter?

Depending on the source of the weather, there can be a delay in updating, which means it can often be more than just a few degrees. Also, my phone/watch can't tell garage temps, which I like to have for a variety of reasons, not least of which is to know when it might need to aired out (summer) or when I choose to do work or what to wear when working, etc. So, if I'm going to have one for the garage anyway... Finally, the ones I had were right in my normal path, so I'd naturally see them more constantly, and all had ice warning lights, which motivated me to leave earlier in foul weather. Now that I think about it, a cool feature Garmin could incorporate would be an ice advisory alarm for commuters! Sent from my SM-S931U using Tapatalk |

We have had AcuRite sensors and receivers for may years at camp and at home. Never any issues.

I have an Ambient Weather station with one outdoor sensor but they make them with 3 (actually 3 included but can display up to 8 if you want to go crazy). Includes humidity.

Perhaps most already know this, but a ton of weather info from right in your neighborhood is available from Weather Underground's Personal Weather stations... Chances are there is one no more than a few miles from you where you get Temp, Precip, Wind (speed & direction), barometric pressure, dew point, and solar radiation. Buy your own weather station if you like, but all of this is just a click away and free of course... as an example, here is one on the Neck Rd: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNHMOULT59
And look at all the stations right around the lake... |

We have an Ambient weather WS-5000 system. The ultrasonic outdoor sensor array does all of the major functions and displays online to wunderground, ambientweather.net, etc.

I use mine for the same reasons you're looking for. It's in my view without digging out my phone first thing in the morning, and gives me the info that is important for the time if day (outside and garage temp).
I've also found that the "forecast" and "Humidity level" are useful. Don't care about the "pressure level". I bought it at a "Do It Best" hardware store. https://www.doitbest.com/product/630...recast-630578/ |

Well the OP only asked about a temp sensor/display. Basic.
On Welch we have a system that does temp, humidity, wind and rain. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VNP2HFB...n_title_1&th=1 I could add it to the Weather Underground network but choose not to do so as the wind readings would be misleading if not clear as to the location limitations. On the west side of the island, wind readings from NE to SW are OK. Wind data from the SE to the NE is blocked by the island so are unreliable. Weather underground does have a "Wondermap" where you can see where any private sensor is and see for yourself if there are any location limitations. |

Do any of these work with a sensor a long distance away? Like maybe a thousand feet.

![]() I have a Davis Vantage Pro 2 (as well as the Ambient Weather I mentioned earlier) but that is very high end for what the OP wants to do. I DO LOVE the Davis monitoring station. You can configure it with inside and outside information and lots of other info, like Sunrise/Sunset and Moon phase. During the summer I can configure one tile to show 24 hour rain storm totals and in the winter the tile shows the Wind Chill. Since it is internet connected you can pull up 24 hour forecasts and even topographical maps. |
