Default Bomb detonation at Moultonborough Neck Rd

Here is a link to a quick report on an event this afternoon involving police and the state bomb squad: https://www.conwaydailysun.com/news/...949400adf.html

I first learned of this when family members coming here on the Neck Road called to say they were delayed at JoJo's store, with a lot of police and emergency vehicles present there and further down. The center of activity was at the intersection of the Neck Rd and Stuart Circle. I was surprised at how quickly something about this appeared on the Internet.

As it happened the day after NYD I suspect it was some form of large "boomer" firework.

I used to buy the "really good, illegal stuff" on Indian reservations: forty bucks for an M-2000.

KA-BOOM

Not much info here. What was the device, and why was it detonated?

The last time I heard something like this followed by limited details, what seemed to be the truth was that it was a suicide by homemade bomb.

I say "what seemed to be the truth" as I don't believe it was ever officially published, but many different people in the vicinity confirmed the story.

It, and this, makes me wonder what the line is between public information for safety and privacy for affected parties (without knowing, of course, any more about this than "there was an explosion").

Haha…me too. Bought 1/4 sticks that actually left a small crater, Tup Goodhue and I set one off at the CH town docks one day (early and no one around)CH FD came down with two trucks, CH and Moultonborough PD both came down. We blamed it on a bunch of kids….luckily no cameras back in those days

Yep. Fire crackers are now considered a "bomb".

Rumor has it that NASA and Homeland Security had fly overs and satellite pictures taken of area.

Maybe time for NH to ban all home fire works. My dogs don't like them.

Sounds like the work of teenagers with New Years Eve fireworks.

Consumer fireworks are not legal and not sold in Massachusetts, so the two Tsarnaev brothers came to a NH fireworks store in Salem NH to get enough black powder to make their April 15, 2013, Boston Marathon bomb that killed three and injured 100's.

Sparklers that started a restaurant/bar ceiling insulation fire, yesterday January 2 at a Switzerland ski resort, killing 40 young people, injuring 119, are also not legal in Massachusetts, and are sold at NH fireworks stores across the state. Sparklers get very hot, very fast with burning tungsten, or something.

Because of the mailbox being under federal jurisdiction, could happen.
The penalty is a fine up to $250,000 and imprisonment up to three years.

And that is without any circumstances that might include "enhanced" charges.

That penalty is accurate but I doubt we will ever see that enforced. Maybe if it were then these pranks would cease to occur.
