Shallow point well questions

Hi,

We have a shallow point well at our camp. Can anyone recommend a DIY filtration system?

Also, where is a good lab to have water tested?
I tried the place in Center Harbor but they were so disorganized they lost my sample and gave me the results from someone else’s water!

DIY and drinking water from a shallow well shouldn’t be in the same sentence. Call a professional and save your health

Unless you use a RO system like this:

I ran lake water through a Watts Premier 5-stage filter (www.premierh2o.com/) and had it tested by the state (drive it to Concord) and it was completely within limits for drinking water...

The State of NH lab in Concord is your best bet for a professional, accurate water test. Go to the state website and request the bottles. Follow the instructions and get them to Concord with a check for about $100. They will mail you the results. They also test for radon if you request it.
If you need a filtration system, call Lachance in Tilton.

We have used both Granite State Analytical and Secondwind and been happy. If you need testing for PFAS, some of the labs don't do this and they send it out. If you need filtration for PFAS there are programs to get reimbursed from the state. A few years ago I checked with the state and their price was low, so they were overloaded and results took several weeks. They raised rates as their intent is not to be in competition with private sector, but the legislature sets their rates, I believe..

Bingo. That’s your starting point. If you have issues from testing contact NSF before you contact someone trying to sell equipment.

Reviving this thread. Does anyone know the name of the well service co. In Alton Bay?
I was told it is second generation and the current owner is hungry!
They are located somewhere near the traffic circle?

Apologies, but this info was given to me second hand…it’s all I’ve got!
