Default Castle-In-The-Clouds restoration

Today's Union Leader has an article with four photos, two showing views of Winnipesaukee, about the Castle-In-The-Cloud property in Moultonboro. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's in today's, Oct 12, printed edition and not the internet edition.

A few key paragraphs:

"She (Ann Hackl) said that the primary thrust of the trust's $5.9 millon campaign to acquire the property at a bargain price from J. Paul Sticht was to protect the 5500 acre property from developement and maintain public access to its massive network of hiking trails.

She said the society's long term goal is to restore the castle to its original condition for its 100th anniversary in 2014.

A $3 million fund drive is in the works and Hakl estimates that the final restoration cost will be in the $4-$5 millon dollar range, with the remaining money coming from grants."

So, this article is mostly about restoring the Castle building to its' original condition of 1914 and there's no mention about any snowmobile trails. I understand some work has been done on a hiking trail but do not know much about it.

Now that snowmobiles are changing fom the more noisy and more smelly two-strokes to the more quiet and much less smelly four-strokes.......who knows.....maybe a light bulb will turn on in someone's brain at the Lakes Region Conservation Trust, and snowmobiles can return to the 5500 acre/ four mountain range area. It could probably be economically beneficial to both the hikers/cross country skiers and the sno-mos if they could just get along.
