Just FYI
AW CONCORD, N.H. (AP) _ New Hampshire's fire marshal is drawing attention to a recall of several models of direct vent wall furnaces that are commonly used in vacation homes, cottages and one-room additions. William Degnan says the heaters, made by Rinnai America Corporation of Peachtree, Georiga, contain a gasket that can fail, releasing carbon monoxide gas into a room. Degnan says about 52,000 of these units have sold in the country and several thousand are in use in New Hampshire. He says many of them have been installed in vacation homes and cottages in the Lakes Region and the North Country. The heaters are fueled with natural gas and propane. They were sold between February 2000 and last December. Homeowners can contact the manufacturer at 866-746-8344 for more information and to receive a free repair kit. |
