An article in the Union Leader reveals estimate for repair to the Weirs boardwalk at 2 1/2 million dollars. Right now Laconia is responsible for the cost of repair. A section of the Weirs Boardwalk washed away during a recent summer storm. There was no insurance coverage.

Default Historic?

Does the boardwalk fit any criteria that would make it an official "Historical Place"? I would think it's been there long enough!? Maybe they could get some funds that way, too!

Surprising that the insurance didn't cover it; must be just liabilty. I mean physical liability, not fiscal.

It is not unusual that many municipalities are self-insured. They create a fund for a future need.

Before we condemn something, let's do the research, folks.
