Default What About Sanbornton?

First of all I would like to thank all the wonderful people on this forum for their incredibly informative posts. We are coming up for a long weekend in March (11-14th) and will be busy exploring, BUT until then I wanted to inquire about another town in the area...Sanbornton. What are your impressions, observations, opinions about the community?

I hope these discussion threads about towns become helpful to other people considering a move to the region. (and give residents and opportunity to express their pride in their towns)

Guess March 11 then 14 instead of 4th? Don't know Bristol or Sanbornton but good luck in your search. It would seem that you are a detail person Hope you are able to find what you want, BUT TRY TO TAKE YOUR TIME AND NOT JUMP INTO SOMETHING. I can be pretty impulsive and most of the time it works out, but gosh a move like this with so many new places that pop up etc might mean you need time to see where you want to live? Good to have a long weekend in the area and in winter too. Let us know what you find.

Hi Lucky,
Thanks for the advice. My partner is moving up to Laconia April 16th, to start her new job so she will be there to check things out. I think house hunting is really quite fun and exciting, but we're not in a mad rush.

My family is from Sanbornton (Ellis) and we spend some time there...

Argie and I were married at Steele Hill, which was right next to where my dad's farm was located when he lived in Sanbornton. My dad is buried in an old cemetery not far from there.

My impression is that it's an old town that's being surrounded by lots of "newness" - there's Tilton, with outlet malls, chain restaurants, etc., popping up like mushrooms next door. I'm afraid Sanbornton will lose it's sleepy little self in all that soon. I remember when the outlet mall area was cow pastures and... well, NOTHING. It wasn't that long ago, really.

It's a pretty, quaint, and very New England little town. I've explored it a bit, and there's some quiet country roads, and all. But not far from that is the hustle and bustle of Tilton, Laconia, etc. You'd be near the interstate... not sure if that's what you're looking for or not?
