Roller Rink planned for Laconia

LACONIA — A city minor site plan review committee gave the nod to the mother and daughter team that will bring roller skating back to the Lake City. Erica Duncan and Janine Page grew up roller skating at the Gilford rink owned by Duncan’s grandfather and Page’s father, Gene Caroselli, and will use the center portion of the former Aubuchon Hardware building on Court Street to open their new rink.

McCarthy would repaint the parking lot and meet all city fire, building and plumbing codes required for a new occupancy building. Duncan and Page said they hope to have the business open by July 1st.

“There’s a real need for this in the community,” said Duncan. “And, we have some big shoes to fill.” Duncan said they have a local disc jockey and have planned a number of events and evening for all area residents of all ages.

I think this is a great idea. Isn't it funny, though, that the old roller rink in Gilford became a hardware store (Gilford Home Center), and that this hardware store is becoming a roller rink?

I'd love to go, been a long time. Somehow I doubt they will be opening in June, with the work that will need to be done on the building.

Personally, I can't wait for this to open! I remember going to the old one when I was a little girl. I think this will be a great place for "Girl's Nights".
