Seems like we have an invasion of black flying insects. They don't bite but seem to be everywhere and land on your clothes, etc......about 1/2 inch long. Anyone know what they are and how long they last? A real pain....

Are they inside or outside your house? Do they look like carpenter ants with wings?
At some point in the spring, carpenter ants hatch with wings and swarm all over the place. They are flying around looking for a new nesting site. If they are inside, you may have a carpenter ant nest which you'll want to find and have it treated. I'm no expert but a picture would help. |

I think that you are talking about May Flies. The locals here in Texas call them March flies, as they hit down here first. Also, June Bugs are called April Bugs in Texas for the same reason.
