Default Food Market...Where can I buy?...

Does anyone know of a market(s) where I can buy a frozen octopus? And/or rabbit?

Within a few blocks of where I live in SF, I can buy food products most residents in New England have never seen before, so cuttlefish, conch or periwinkles, I'm sure I'm not going to find in New Hampshire, but a good Asian market should have octopus and rabbit must be available somewhere. The Wine'ing Butcher said they could get rabbit, but it was around $25/lb. I can get it here for under $3/lb. Someone recommended shooting a grey squirrel and substituting that for rabbit...Probably not going to do that, besides the squirrels near me are all red...Not enough meat!

I can't even find kaffir lime leaves in NH!

There's an Asian market named Saigon in Manchester...Anyone been there?

Many thanks, as always...

It isn't any closer for you than Manchester, but, there is an Asian Market in Lebanon called Yiping's. About 1/2 mile from Yiping's, across the CT River in VT, is Piecemeal Pies where you can get a traditional rabbit meat pie for your rabbit fix.

If you do happen to venture to the Upper Valley and Yiping's doesn't have what you need, I imagine either the Hanover or Lebanon CO-OP Food Stores would be able to order it for you. Their butcher is usually really good with special orders.

My co-worker is from Hong Kong and he special orders through both Yipings and The Co-Op fairly regularly.

Closer to home, I have heard that Heath's in Center Harbor is pretty good with special orders, too.

There is one in Portsmouth and another in Nashua. Can't speak to what they carry, but worth a call.

Avoid the frustration and eat something else. When I'm in San Diego I have fish tacos. When I'm in NH I have lobster rolls and fried clams and yankee pot roast

Default Best Asian market - Octopus, rabbit, etc.

When we get low on our Asian supplies, we head to Quincy, MA to a market called Kam Man - link: http://www.kammanfoods.com/quincy/en/
It's the size of a large Market Basket / Shaw's and has lots of live as well as frozen delicacies (yes rabbit and octopus). You will not be disapointed.
I know the Concord Market Basket carries frozen octopus - purchased it many times.

Thanks...

I love the local food...clams, lobster, scrod, etc. But, I like to expand the options a bit. A little ceviche de pulpo before the lobster roll? Ahhh...

dpg - Rabbits are frozen. They have live fish, crabs, shellfish, eels, etc.
They also have a butcher shop where you can custom cut your beef, pork, etc.
