My mom asked if I would pose this question to the knowledgeable people on the Forum:
How did the chipmunks get onto the islands? They hibernate during the winter months, so coming over on the ice doesn't make sense. Any ideas? Thanks! RG |

Chipmunks end their hibernation in March, ice out is usually mid April.

How do you get to the island ? Well same thing for chippies and squirrels ! Outrageous you say, here I have proof
![]() First the skiing squirrel. And then it's natural to ask, who's driving the boat. Well it's a bit blurry but I believe it's a chipmunk. That's my story and I'm sticking to it ! ![]() Of course that's how it's done today. Back in the 60's it was quite a race btw the chippies and squirrels. What, again you doubt ![]()

What a foolish question! Everybody knows Chipmunks get their boating certificate and drive gas-guzzling off-shore racers.

RG,
It is obvious that the chippies were there before “a great upheaval”. ![]()
