We have the worst dock damage in 61 years on the Lake. There was a large pressure ridge that ran from our dock and zig-zagged northwest over to Black Island -- and I think this had something to do with it. End result, the top of the crib was pushed in and that side of the dock lifted -- actually bending the frame of the boathouse. You can see how the doorway is offset in this photo:

Hi there, Sorry about your damage. I'm on Winnisquam. My boathouse is abut 6 years old, but suffered damage this winter. Does your homeowners' insurance cover any of the damage?

Our crank-up snapped off the wenches and slammed into the ice during that bad storm Derby Weekend. Our homeowners policy DOES cover it. I'm sure it depends on what type of policy you have.

Most island properties (at least those that fire trucks can’t get to) are covered by fire policies, not homeowners. Windstorm is covered, ice damage may not be. And where a homeowner’s policy will cover damage to a dock, a fire policy probably wouldn’t. Good idea to have your agent send you his opinion of what your policy says.
