Is there a good restaurant - doesn't have to be fancy - that has a good selection of draft beers on hand? I'm talking English and Irish imports, if possible... like Murphy's, Guinness, Beamish, Sam Smith's, you get the idea...

Unfortunately, it is in ManchVegas. Huge selection of drafts as well as bottles. Great blues bands on weekends.

There are two floors. The college crowd dominates the cellar.

I know Biederman's Deli up in Plymouth has alot of different beers - both draft & bottled. They have great sandwiches too. Check them out:

Don't know how broad the selection is, but I know Garwood's in Wolfeboro has Guinness on tap. Once I see the Guinness, I usually don't look any further since I don't see it on tap all that often. In fact, when I am traveling, I often find myself picking my dinner locations based on whether they have Guinness on tap - I have been a convert ever since a trip I took to Ireland.

Tewksbury MA is known as "Tewksvegas". LOL. Think about it for a minute and you crack up.

I imagine its the same sort of irony applied to the "Manchvegas" usage. |

For a small restaurant the Lyons' Den has some reasonable choices once you get past the Bud dishwater products.

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3nm2c/lyonsden/id9.html The don't list Guinness but there sure is a tap in the photo. While the Woodstock Inn Brewery has only their own on tap, there are many interesting choices. http://www.woodstockinnbrewery.com/home.php |

I second the Woodstock Inn Brewery. Was just there last week. The Pemi Pale Ale is the best I ever tasted!

It is really just a nickname that caught on, so much that my buddy named his bike building business ManchVegas Choppers.

You know, I'm with jack1706 on this one, I don't quiet get the irony of it either.

I grew up in a town on the South Shore of Mass. called Marshfield and it was known as MarshVegas. I could get the irony of that one as the Las and Marsh are somewhat similar.

			No offense here...

but I also know that they call Marshfield.... "MarshVegas. My thoughts on this was "that is was a town/city that considered themselves "above" those surrounding towns". I dunna know. Who am I? It is just was I was always led to believe. And BTW....we are neighbors.....I am in Weymouth, MA.

Great tavern there, good food, casual atmosphere, and a great beer selection on tap and in the bottle.

I thought ManchVegas got its name from the many slot machines that were confiscated in a raid years ago.

I cringe whenever I ask what beers they have on tap and they start with "bub, bud lite, coors, coors light..." I know that I'll be drinking water!

(forgive me Don...) Source: UrbanDictionary.com Manch-Vegas 1. Aternative name for the city of Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. The word was coined by combining the first part of "Manchester" with the second word in "Las Vegas," juxtaposing Las Vegas's glitz and glamor with Manchester's lack of either. Used derisively. "So are we going out tonight?" "We live in Manch-Vegas. The hottest spot open this late is Wal-Mart." 2. Noun: The city that never sleeps alone! The rockin' Queen City of New Hampshire, Manchester, got it's glamorous name from the fact that there is so much of the same to do all over and nowhere in town. It's really a rolling mystery! The initial impression would leave a new comer with a feeling of AW while the veterans of the city know better! All in all it's a hell of a place to be and certainly an upcoming world power on the East Coast! Adj: A description the clubers at Homega use to describe the booty in town. Noun: Mo; "Hey, wanna hit the bars in Manch-Vegas tonight?" Ed; "Yeah, which one?" Mo;"I don't know, you pick" Ed; "I don't know... why do I have to pick" Yolanda; "Like it matters!" Bottom line: It's tongue in cheek humor.... it's certainly not being snotty about Manchester - if you've ever been to Las Vegas, you'd know it's glitz, glamor, and little/no substance. Bright lights. Big city. Make a wrong turn and you're in the projects. Last edited by Argie's Wife; 07-22-2010 at 09:25 PM. |

Used to live in Marshvegas. Always thought it was because it's a bit of a honky tonk town compared to the surrounding towns, and there used to be gambling there back in the day.

Manchvegas I think also refers to the "action" going on. |
