Mt Major-Geology Saturday-Sept 10!
Saturday, September 10: are you basically bored out of your mind, and have a passing interest in the lakes region geology, or just want to go for a nice easy hike up a beautiful mountain with a beautiful view, then this 10am(up top on the summit), Saturday, September 10 hike-geology discussion (rain day-September 11) in Alton is for you!
Price: there's no charge, and you get to listen to some guy with some type of geology phd talk about the local rocks or something! Hey there; sure, rocks can be kind of boring, but at least it gets you out of the house and you go walk up to the top of Mount Major! Attention any cigarette smokers; you will be required to follow behind at the back of the line just so's all the healthy hikers do not have to be smelling that miserable cigarette smoke! http://www.gilmantonnh.org/documents...0121850727.pdf www.belknaprange.org "Please arrive at the parking lot between 8am and 8:30, and allow one & 1/2 hours for a leisurely hike to the summit."

Nope, used the chairlift. Totally forgot about this thread. Drove by the parking area yesterday and saw it overflowing with maybe 20+ cars on the road. Gasped and said I'm glad I'm not hiking Mt Major today.

I was interested in attending this talk but figured that my climbing days are over. Was kind of a rockhound when I was a kid. Maybe they'll do it on Gunstock next year.
