This isn't about boating, restaurants, tourist activites, or any of the usual topics found on this Forum, but I am guessing that just about all of us are touched by phone calls soliciting opinions, money, votes, polls, and any of many more nagging topics.
It seems to me that these phone calls have increased, steadily, for quite some time. I get calls at most any time of day, every day of the week, and, with the automated calling systems and robo-calls, who knows where they are coming from. I have taken to just plain not answering the phone unless I recognize the calling number. But, nevertheless, the phone still rings, and rings. Am I alone in this predicament? |

Not at all.
If I get one more call from "Rachel from account services" I will....................... I am sick of robo calls, and if you try to educate the caller that it is a violation of federal Law they just hang up, and then their machine calls you again the next day. I have tried having them wait while I "went to the garage to get my credit card out of my car" and every other thing to upset them and make them realize that they are wasting their time. Nothing works. I would love to hear a solution that will stop these calls once and for ever. |

We got rid of our land line. And put our cell phones on the Do Not Call registry.
We rarely get calls, and the ones we get are polls, that are exempt from the restrictions. |

I started having fun with them. I ask stupid questions, ask them to repeat or spell things. I might just listen to them for a long time go on and on and when they start looking for a response Ill say im sorry I was distracted could you please repeat that. Getting mad at them does not stop the calls but when they get mad and hang up on you somehow you are off their call list.
Try it before you know it you will be waiting for calls. I would get calls at work 2 to 3 times a week trying to get me to sign up for yellowbook.com or some other internet phone directory. I would get so mad telling them to take us off the call list and nothing helped until I tried another way. He was getting so mad at me and when I asked him to spell yellow he yelled "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO SPELL YELLOW" and hung up. I have not received a call from them in well over a year. |

Here's a link to the federal government's complaint form. It's a good idea to execute one these each time you get called on a number you've placed on the "do not call" list --or any robo-call (they're all illegal).
Every once in a while, you see an article about some telemarketing firm being fined upwards of $100 million. My theory is that the government lets them go until the number of complaints nets them a huge fine. |

I say right away, "I don't do anything over the phone, thank you, bye".
I use my phone to talk with friends and for my convenience. I donate to charities of my choice the old fashioned way...they send an envelope, I put a check in it and send it back. |

I have a feeling it might be 5 years since we called the do not call number and don't I remember that it expires in 5 years? So maybe we need to put our numbers back on that list again because, I, too seem to be getting more calls again???
