Interesting, Welch Island is Witch Island!

From 1892 Town and City Atlas Of The State Of New Hampshire. Hurd and Co., Boston.

It has been under my nose at the Hollis Library the whole time!
(I still have lots of projects for the fall.)
If you are interested in certain areas, I can zoom in for better detail. Just let me know.

Is there a Carroll County or Wolfeboro map with this collection?

There is! What an excellent book. Originally I was at the library to check out a book in the historic section that I knew had a map I wanted. Sadly the map was gone. The head librarian was not there to ask if it was somewhere else. Browsed through some other books and found the sad story of Chief Chocorua. (A post for another time.) On my way out, I spotted this historic atlas with the current ones. (Certainly where it shouldn’t be as it is over 100 years old and not a cheap book.) It was so exciting. I need to go back and get better copies, as you can see from the Rough Wolfeborough my technique needs to be improved. Hopefully that will happen soon. Have to plan on a lot of time, I tend to lose track of it while hunting through history!

I still think that it is a RFD mail map. The detail close to the post office is missing.

I also noticed Paugus was Long Bay, Alton was Merrymeeting Bay,Opeechee was Round Bay,Winnisquam was Great/Sanbornton/Little Bay. SS

Also interesting to see the valuation of each town at that time.One house today is worth more than the whole town. SS
