What about the far end of the bay? Lakeport landing, Irwin, Pagus Bay Marina? I don't know if they are open Sundays.

Default Libby Museum Launch

Hi,

Any experience with the Libby Museum Launch? I am coming for vacation next week and am staying in Tuftonboro and have a 19 foot Maritime Skiff. The house we rented has a dock and I though Libby museum looked the closest to our house. Can I leave the trailer there while my wife drives the car back to the house and meets me? I can then go back for the trailer and bring it to the house. Just not sure of the size of this launch site. Who manages it? Is there a fee? Do I call the museum to set up the service. Please let me know.

Thanks

Default Maybe...maybe not

Get there (Libby Museum ramp) really early, but there should be temporary room for your trailer and plenty of room for your boat in the ramp. (Concrete/rock wall on one side -- trees on the other. It is tight).

Big sailboats are launched from there. Check the bottom of the ramp for "drop-off". Sometimes the bottom gets eroded-away by wakes and your trailer tires may not get back up the ramp when taking the boat out.

'Suggest allowing Jet-Skis to launch ahead of you. (They have zero patience, and sometimes will launch two at a time).

There's no fee, but there can be a line waiting to launch on weekends. (Except on weekends when it's raining -- a good time to launch).

Update:

I drove by there last night.

Unfortunately, the wide-open area next to the road has been paved over and shrunk down to just five parking spaces for Museum parking! (Only -- posted). Maybe someone can check "behind" the Museum to see if the temporary trailer parking there is still available.

Maybe if you get there on the "off-hours" of the Museum, and are very focused, it'll work.

.
