Yes, the pandemic didn't help.

Pess poor management.

I had one urologist located in the wing - asked to turn in his medical license by the state Board of Medicine. He was doing extra not needed procedures. The Board of Medicine has public records that state this. Public information.

The idiot management tore down a perfectly good building in Meredith just to build a new good building. For no apparent reason. The old building was a modern brick building.

There are more incidents - won't mention - that involve the management of cleanliness.

Have been in the Emergency Room twice. All the employees were nice and professional.

It's the management that screwed things up.

Maybe management should have hired some consultants long before accumulating this much debt.

In addition to the hospital closing for all but emergencies and coronavirus, our local primary care docs and specialty docs associated with the hospital are closing!!! I called Laconia Internal Medicine today and I was told they are closing on Tuesday. 🤦🏼*♀️

What kind of outfit are they running up there at LRGH anyway?

I guess this is an example of how it is difficult to find good health care in rural areas.

I've never been to LRGH, but its sister hospital in Franklin is awful. Once went for a blood test. The nurse took a guy's urine sample WITHOUT GLOVES and then wanted to start my blood test WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS. I walked out. Another incident during a severe ice storm: ER sent me home at 2 am to walk 2 miles home. (Senior citizen here.) The doctor who treated me there was stripped of his medical license in Vermont and moved to NH! I hope and pray to God that I never end up in that hospital again.

I do believe the horror stories about LRGH. But I have a little different take on it.

We have been going to LR for the past 16 years for minor procedures, mid level auto accident, diagnostic testing. I can’t speak to overall care but the staff that we encountered were competent,compassionate, and clearly explained the situations. Last year I accompanied a neighbor to the ER as her husband had suffered a life altering emergency. The ER doc explained the situation accurately and with much compassion.

I am a retired physician who has been associated with the NIH and teaching medical institutions usually ranked 1 or 2 in the country.

Would LRGH be my first choice for a serious illness...no. But caring, compassion and general competence counts and LRGH would be a loss to the community.

I do not know about the financial situation or the general hospital administration and therein may have been the problem.

My patients would frequently ask...which is the best hospital? The answer would be “depends.” If I needed my appendix out, I would go to the most convenient local hospital. If I had a rare serious condition I would go to the institution that frequently dealt with it. Patients also wanted me to treat them like Family. My Family would not agree with that idea.

Glad all my doctor's are at Concord Hospital. I made the decision to switch a number of years ago and haven't regretted it. The extra 10 minute drive for me is worth it.

I feel sorry for those furloughed, and the hit the local economy could take. Hopefully, they will get acquired, but with $110M in debt, I wonder. Based on losing $1M a month, the loan only gets them a few more months. The area needs a hospital.

I got a call from my primary's office office today to tell me as of tomorrow morning, they will be closed. They told me if I needed anything that I need to call the clinic and said expect a delay though because they will be servicing alot of other offices

Last time there a few years back out of town son in law needed four stitches. Total bill was $1600!!!! $400 covered by insurance. $1200 from pocket.

I can’t say anything bad about my limited visits but I did have bunion surgery a few years back and the hospital part of that was very good. LACONIA Clinic was where my doctor’s office was and overall, he was good.
Another doc there was not so “good” and had a terrible “bedside manner” if you will. I remedied that by going to Concord Ortho.
My PCP is in Meredith and I’m calling them tomorrow to see what their plan is going forward. My wife is with Dartmouth Hitchcock and travels to New London for doctors...she is happy there.

This is where the (no longer) new walk in clinics have taken over the market. Much lower overhead than a full hospital ER.

For you youngsters out there.

My first time in a civilian hospital was in the early 1970's.
I was in hospital for 3 days.
I got two bills. One from hospital - one bill. One from doctor.
A two item bill.
My employer/employee insurance paid for everything.

The last time I was in a civilian hospital.
One night. Minor procedure.
The bill was eleven (11} pages long at 8 point font.
I had to pay $1.50 per page to obtain a copy of the hospital bill. One of the itemized charges was . . . wait for it . . . the billing company !!!!
Hospital charge per tissue paper and per sheet of toilet paper amongst everything else. Eleven pages of itemized charges. 8 point font.

My second time in a hospital was in 1962. I had impacted wisdom teeth, and was hospitalized from Sunday P.M. until my release the following Friday A.M. My insurance covered it 100%. Can you even imagine that whole scenario today?

I have also heard from a VERY Reliable source, that LRGH has a $89,000 a month Rent Bill. My step brother retired as a Purchasing agent there a few years back and told me he was getting out while the getting was good. He had been there for 25 years.

We are considering moving to the area once hopefully the pandemic settles down and we are able to sell our house in NJ. Losing LRGH would be a big loss to the area. I was in a horrific head on crash on Moultonboro Neck Rd several years ago, LRGH took very good care of me. My 90 year old parents get most of their medical treatment through LRGH. Several family members have been through their ER while on vacation, allergic reactions and other minor emergencies. If it closes, options are Huggins, Speare, Concord, Dartmouth? Anything else?

Don't get me wrong, I love both Concord Hospital and LRGH. Our family has been involved
satisfactorily with both.

What bothers me about a possible merger between the two is how will a "not for profit" hospital (Concord) be able to merge with a "Charitable Foundation" hospital saddled with enormous pre-existing debt (LRGH) ? I can't imagine this happening without LRGH dealing with the debt first, probably through reorganization (bankruptcy).

It will be interesting.

CMC, Manchester- 60 days furlough for some 400 employees- reduced hours for another, approximately, 700.

They lost $11 million due to cancellation of elective surgeries

I made the decision to switch a number of years ago and haven't regretted it. The extra 10 minute drive for me is worth it.
